Ball Canning Getting Started Guide: Short videos and several pdfs that walk you through the canning process.

Yoga
YogaDownload: Downloadable audio and video classes (20 minute classes are free and also available on iTunes, longer classes are pay). For audio classes, there are pdf pose guides included with the download so you can see the posture sequence.
Tara Stiles Yoga: Short you tube video routines and downloadable video podcasts (all free, about 5 to 10 minutes in length).
3 Dog Yoga : 60 and 75 minute live recording audio podcast classes (free). If you’re craving a yoga class, but can’t make it to a studio, these podcasts are great for giving you a feeling of community even though you’re practicing on your own. I really like Ana’s style – soulful but a little irreverent. I recommend trying these podcasts, but only if you’ve got a good foundation in yoga and can practice with only verbal cues.

San Francisco/Bay Area
Food
Farmers Markets: Scoutmob list and another comprehensive list from a blogger
Restaurants with Raw Food (article from the Bold Italic, always amusing and informative)
Favorite Yoga Studios
Yoga Tree: Multiple locations in San Francisco with a variety of styles and great instructors
Aha Yoga: This studio in San Francisco’s Marina neighborhood feels like a tree house oasis in the city. Try to get a class in the small room – with a max of 10 students, it’s like taking a workshop for the same price as a regular class
Three Dog Yoga: In Santa Rosa, every time I go north I try to squeeze in a class because I love the atmosphere and style of this studio
Yoga to the People: Donation-based classes in San Francisco and Berkeley
Groove Yoga: Power yoga and hot power yoga (95-100 degrees) in Berkeley

Books
“A set of written, printed, or blank pages fastened along one side and encased between protective covers.”
Reminder: Your local library is a great resource for cookbooks. Borrow without commitment, jot down the recipes you like, return it and get another book!

Favorite Cookbooks
The Kind Diet*: This is the book that got me to try on being vegan. Good information on the benefits of going plant-based and making the transition. The recipes are divided into vegan and “superhero”, which is a take on macrobiotic. Everything I’ve made is delicious.
Crazy Sexy Kitchen*: Wellness warrior and cancer survivor Kris Carr partners with Chef Chad in this cookbook filled with delicious plan-based dishes.
The Hip Chick’s Guide to Macrobiotics*: Half description of macrobiotic theory, half recipe, Jessica has a fun tongue-in-cheek style of writing. An accessible way to delve into macrobiotics. No pictures though.
Chloe’s Kitchen*: The first vegan to win cupcake wars, everything I’ve made from Chloe has been delicious. I use the cake recipe from her Raspberry Tiramisu Cupcakes as the foundation for most of my cupcakes – it’s foolproof.

Canning Books
Canning and Preserving with Ashley English: an excellent resource that goes through the fundamentals of canning in great detail. Asheley has written several books about “homemade living” and has a blog on homesteading: Small Measure
Food in Jars: I love this recently published book. It’s gorgeous and chock full of wonderful recipes. I’m canning my way through it. Also check out Marisa’s blog with the same name.
Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving: Considered one of the seminal canning references, by the maker of the iconic jars.
Canning for a New Generation: Fresh and innovative recipes.
Life Changers
The Desire Map: Truth-sayer Danielle LaPorte thinks we have our whole relationship to goal setting backwards, focusing on what we want rather than what we want to feel. More than a book, this program walks you through how to identify your core desired feelings and plan your day, week, and year around them. Book, workbook, audiobook, contemplations/meditations, and playlists make it an invigorating and inspired process.
May Cause Miracles: A 40-Day Guidebook of Subtle Shifts for Radical Change and Unlimited Happiness. The subtitle doesn’t lie. Gabrielle Bernstein walks you through daily exercises to overcome fear and create space for miracles in your self image, relationships, and finances with the ultimate intention to be of better service to the world.
